My Quest to Organization - Part I - Paperwork

I have a really long way to go with organizing, and am inviting you on my journey! This journey will cover a range of topics; from de-cluttering, to storage, to sorting paperwork.

For some reason, paperwork just clutters my whole room. You can find a sheet of paper on any furniture surface on any given day. I even bought a basket to start putting these loose papers in until I find the time/a home for them. Problem is, that basket has been reassigned to another duty! I will be emptying the basket out tonight to give it back the original task of housing random paper.

Hello cute file folder!
(found this beauty at Wal-mart!)

A few months ago, I bought this expanding file folder to try and organize some paperwork and finances. I set it up by month to house bills, receipts, tax info, and anything else you could think of. Let's just say that didn't last long. It was such a chore to find anything I was looking for! This organization method might work for some people, but I knew it wasn't working for me. After talking to my mumma, who went to school for office administration, told me that it would be more effective to have it sorted by company names, and have each tab for one purpose, filing the most recent month at the front. Exactly what I had in my head! Now to put it in action.

I quickly whipped up a template in Excel after measuring the divider tabs, and labelled them my own way (and backed them with paper that matches the case).  I figured since you never know when you might switch phone carriers or credit card companies, I would leave the headings a bit more generic. That basket I mentioned earlier? It has been housing random things, such as my Tax papers from the past few years. They will be relocated to the appropriate tabs tonight!

What do you find is the hardest part about organizing? Do you have any ideas of posts regarding organization you would like to see? I might not have all the answers, but maybe together we can find them out!!

PS - AAHHHHHH why does the mess have to get worse before it gets better? The state of my room at the moment is absolutely ridiculous!

Blah to Ooh La La

Sorry for the corny title. But it popped in my head, and no matter what I did to try and come up with another title for this post, this one stuck.

I’ve had these cheap IKEA magazine holders for a few years now. They got demoted to the closet for a couple years, but lately they’ve been taking up real estate on my shelf, looking rather bland. Not great curb appeal, if you know what I mean.  So a few nights ago, while LBF and my Fajah were figuring out why my new hard drive (more memory, clean slate with no junk? YES PLEASE) wouldn’t accept an operating system, I got to work beautifying the bland.

I know they could use something else, but I can't figure out what. If you can think of anything, please let me know!!

Looks like it's time to redo that turquoise box on top of my photo boxes!!

Long time!

Hey guys,
Sorry I haven't been posting much lately. Just busy with life. I haven't even really taken the time to sit down and make any cards! I should really get on that if I want to finish my project in time for Christmas! I am still trying to find boxes to use. Stampin Up has some but they're just too much money for such a small box. And I was thinking it would be cool if they could be big enough to hold store bought cards for when they buy some fun cards/ run out of my lovely home made ones! If you have any ideas about where I could find a good card box, PLEASE let me know! I was thinking of just using photo boxes but they're not really tall enough.

On Sunday afternoon, I went to LBF's and scrapbooked with his fine Momma. It was so much fun! I only got one page done, but we came up with a general idea for another page. Expect a lot of sparkle haha! If you have any cute "love" or relationship quotes, share em with me! I don't want to journal on this specific page, and was thinking that a nice quote might be nice so the page isn't so empty.
(will post a pic of the finished page soon!)

A couple weekends ago, LBF and I helped my cousin and his wife move in to their new place. I'm so happy for them, and we've already been over to hang out and watch a hockey game. The random singing session was also fun! This is the card I made them :) (Don't mind the random foreground haha!)

Having some fun!

This weekend was a pretty busy one for me. On Saturday, I went to the Exposure Show at the International Centre and listened to a seminar called "Beyond Auto Mode." Between the seminar and browsing the amazing and overwhelming selection of products at the show, this event definitely made me want the Nikon D5100 even more! I can't wait until I can get it! Oh the fun I'll have experimenting with it.

After the show, the BFF and I went to Jack Astor's for an early dinner and then came back to my place to hang out. K and KEYZ were over (and half of them sick!) and it was nice to get to see them for a little bit. Z made us play Shulbak (no clue how to spell that) with him. I forgot how fun that game is! Then we went upstairs, put on the Borne Identity, and made some cards. At first I was going to work on a craft for my room, but I can't find the right quote for it. I made some more cards for the Christmas Presents, and started a fun card that I am thinking of also putting in the Presents.

On Sunday, LBF and I went to the Ski, Snowboard and Travel show. I knew it was a bad idea! I ended up buying a sick board and even more awesome bindings. I'm pretty nervous to start boarding again - it's been probably 4 or 5 years since I went last. Let's hope LBF is patient with me! I know I'm probably going to get grumpy -  I always do when I can't do something properly right away. Let's hope I have as just much patience as he'll need!

I know it's not a full length shot, but I realized after I put the
camera away that the full length shot was wonky.

Anyways I hope you had a great Monday and I can't wait to share some of the other fun crafts I've made lately. I've been too busy to post, but I have them saved up and ready to post for you :)
What'd you do this weekend? <3

Moustaches and Doilies oh my!

Many Moustaches
Daffodil Delight, Marina Mist, Early Espresso, Tangerine Tango

On Saturday, I got together with my fave gals and did a marathon card making session! I don’t think I’ve made that many cards in such little time before (and trust me, I didn’t even make that many)! After we finally got settled in, we were probably at it for about 2 or 3 hours? I got 11 cards made! Hahaha 16 mins a card… At any rate, we (at least I did) had a blast and it was nice to have some girl time :)

Delicate Doilies
Lucky Limeade, Perfect Plum, Early Espresso

I am putting one of each card into the Christmas Presents, and keeping the rest for my card box! I made 3 card styles that day; the third was a quicker version of the LBF’s birthday card. I have to say I’m pretty excited with how well the Presents are going! The fact that I actually have motivation to do them is pretty sweet, and it also helps that I’m stocking up my own dwindling card collection at the same time. K and I have been trying to get together at least once a week to make cards, and it really is helping me get stuff done! K has been so amazing to me! Last night she picked me up from work since the LBF had to work late. She dropped me off and grabbed some paper to help me cut and prep for a show I have on Sunday since I have had a splitting headache all week. It’s so awesome to know I have friends who will look out for me and help me out when they can! And I definitely hope they know I try to do the same for them.

Here’s to great friends, good times and fun cards!

ps - for everyone that keeps asking, LBF = Lovely Boyfriend!
